Fall Family Fun Crafts

November 4, 2010 by Kimberly 1 Comment

Luke and I had fun painting this afternoon with some new fall leaf shaped sponges we got from United Art & Education store over in West Chester. If you’ve never been you should definitely check it out, they have so many great resources for teaching kids for parents and teachers! We found these adorable sponges for $4.95 and we already have paint and paper so it was a nice splurge that will last for years to come! We decided to get creative with the leaves today and we used washable non-toxic finger paint which was super easy to clean up. I also found this cute smock at the same store for $3.49. As they get older it’s easier to make your own art smocks with your hubby’s old shirts (don’t throw they away!).

Another great Fall craft idea is to do leaf rubbings! All you need is:

  • leaves
  • 2 pieces of paper
  • crayons

You simply put the leaves (one or two) in between the two pieces of paper and using a crayon rub the top of the paper and you’ll see a beautiful picture of the leaves come through!

And don’t forget my personal favorite as a kid – capturing (ironing) your leaves between two pieces of wax paper! You can choose a great place around your home to decorate in festive fall style! You can cut them out and hang them from the window, the possibilities are endless! Enjoy!

If you have any other great Fall craft ideas, please let us know! We’d love to try them out!

A good one for little ones is to trace their hands on brown construction paper, cut them out. Get different colored construction paper, cut to look like feathers & glue to the back. Add eyes and red gobble and you have a turkey. You could even do it with stiff felt add string and hang it.

You can get mini straw hats at the craft store, stiff felt (variety of colors), googlie eyes. Cut felt to look like feathers, glue to back of straw hat, glue on eyes and red gobble and you have a turkey.
