With the busiest shopping time of the year approaching it’s important to get your ducks in a row and have an idea and strategy to start/finish your Christmas shopping! We only have Christmas shopping done for Luke, mostly because he’s pretty easy to buy for (he’s two-lets wrap up that toy at the bottom of the toy chest he hasn’t seen in a while and he’ll never even know!) and we don’t go overboard. There are so many novel ideas for Christmas presents it’s hard to keep track of them all so here are a few of my favorites and I hope you’ll share yours so we can exchange ideas!! I’m usually lost for ideas for gifts but this year I seem to have it all planned out…even for the hubs! (which is rare!)
I just ordered one of these adorable stockings from Pottery Barn for Luke with his name on it and since we’re having a “reindeer themed” birthday party for him in two weeks I was inspired to get the reindeer stocking! I wanted to get one for him last year but I was too late and they sold out quickly! Shipping was free and it was only $25!
My Dad was recently telling me about this cool thing he just tried – a hot chocolate maker!! It’s under $30 and would make a great gift for anyone! It’s stirs the hot chocolate and heats it to the right temperature and everything! You just add the powder and milk/water and it does the rest! You can also use it for tea! You can check it out for yourself and get one here!
If you’re looking to have a little fun with your kids, check out this cute website where you can write to Santa and he’ll send your kids back a letter! They also have fun craft ideas, fun stories for your kids and an entire section for activities for parents and kids! Love it!
Last but not least is Luke’s big Christmas gift this year – the big surprise I can’t wait to see the look on his face! It’s a Strider balance bike (thanks for the idea Tricia!)! For those of you who are local, you can get them at Reser Bicycle Outfitters. The staff is great, super knowledgeable and they actually seemed just as excited as we were to buy it for Luke! If you’re wondering what a balance bike is…
Designed for children, ages 1 – 5, the Strider™ PREbike is lightweight, easy to control and features an adjustable seat and handlebars to accommodate a growing child. Most importantly, the Strider teaches your child balance, coordination and develops glittering confidence.
And the Strider is steady, stable and safe. At the first feeling of instability, your child will instinctively place his feet securely on the ground. So there are no “tricycle tip-overs” or “training-wheel wobbles” that stir-up a fear, hesitancy, or dislike of bike riding.
Their slogan is “if your child can walk, your child can use the Strider PREbike!” I’ll definitely post pictures of Luke trying out his new bike after Christmas! 🙂 Go to you-tube and check out all the great videos of kids enjoying their Strider bikes!
