Happy Friday! Now that Winter has FINALLY arrived and it is SO cold and blistery, I’m sure everyone is grabbing their cold weather gear out of the closets by now! (Unless you’re one of those crazy people I see in the grocery store still wearing shorts! It’s too COLD!) I’m a summer girl – the hotter, the better for me! I love preparing for the Holidays and the fun of Christmas but once January hits I’m moping around and counting the days until spring starts and the temperature gets up above 50 degrees! I may actually invest in one of those lights that you can get for your house that helps to fight winter blues this year! Costco has them for $119 if you’re looking for more info.
One thing I do love about winter is dressing for the cold weather. I love wearing sweaters, jeans, warm socks, boots and my favorite winter coats! Every year I’m on the search for the perfect pair of gloves. This year, Jennie and I have found some adorable Flip Top Gloves that we are loving because we can do all our errands while easily getting the boys in and out of the car seat, finding the car keys (always at the bottom of my purse) pulling out my credit card from my wallet, and of course the most important thing…using my iPhone! I use my phone for everything: driving directions, recipes on the go, looking up phone numbers, email, calendar, weather, music… you get the idea. It would be pretty annoying if I kept freezing my fingers off while I was trying to take pictures of Luke playing in the snow. Now, you can get these pretty nifty gloves that have special material in the thumbs and index fingers to allow you to use your touch screen device without taking your gloves off (another great Christmas present for that man in your life who is SO hard to buy for!) but it’ll cost you about $35-$40, which may be worth it for some. With so many touch screen phone on the market today, it’s no surprise these flip top gloves are so popular this year. They are so practical and Jennie bought her adorable black pair for less than $10 at Target! Mine were a little more, discounted via employee purchase down to about $20 from Joules. Some of them have the thumb covered, others like Jennie’s don’t.
I’ve heard people complain that their thumb gets cold, even when you are using them as mittens but I must admit that I wish mine didn’t have the thumb covered because it’s harder to get things done with the thumb always covered. I was getting pretty frustrated trying to tie the mitten back on the top button and wanted to take the gloves off in the end! So there are pros and cons to both!
The nice thing about getting them from Target is you can get many adorable colors to match different coats and outfits! They make great stocking stuffers if someone you know has a favorite color!
