I was recently searching for fun family places to go around Cincinnati and was really looking for something science based. I came across Boonshoft Museum of Discovery in Dayton was curious. Dayton is only about an hour from us so I looked on their website and saw they did a Mommy/Daddy and me class the first Monday of every month that is science based for kids ages 2-4. It was only $10 so I thought, why not? It was something a little different and we love car rides so I was excited to learn more about Boonshoft!
We had so much fun and I definitely plan to take Luke back each month. The $10 included all day admission to the rest of the museum. The look on Luke’s face when we walked into the museum was priceless! It was a great WOW moment for him which was great fun to watch. In the science class we had fun building our own moving creations (a car and a boat!) out of recycled materials that move by wind and water power.
They had SO much in this museum for kids (and an Egyptian exhibit with a mummy for adults!) and the science and education emphasis was fantastic. They have a wonderful exhibit on the solar system and discovery zoo as well, so definitely check out their website because Dayton really isn’t too far from Cincy and would even be a great day trip when you’re looking for something a little different to surprise the kids!
We were there from 9:30am to 1:00pm and we didn’t see a lot of the museum! We didn’t even make it over to the zoo so I can’t wait to check that out next time. You can even see their floor plan on their website to plan your trip. Their other current exhibit is all about electricity and it’s so hands on for kids of all ages.
I don’t know about you, but I had no idea this place existed so be sure to add it to your list of family fun places to go!
