For months now there have been a couple of “projects” around my house that I’ve been waiting for the right time to get stuck into! The first is my food pantry. When we moved in a couple years ago I had it all organized nicely and everything had it’s place. But over the last few months it’s gotten carried away and one of my pet peeves is not being able to find what I’m looking for! Clutter in general drive me crazy because I really feel like when my house is cluttered and disorganized my head space is usually the same way! My house isn’t always spotless (I’ve just learned the trick to having a “picked up” house!) and I do let certain things go at times but I get to a point where I can’t take it anymore and go on a clean house frenzy! I also have to give props to my husband, he is a clean freak and always does the dishes and I’ve never had to ask him for help around the house – if he sees something needs to be done he just does it.
So, here’s the before picture of my pantry…
What happened to it all? Well, some was outdated but MOST of the clutter was all my canning stuff that is now all organized down in the basement. It’s SO nice to open the pantry doors and know just where everything is!
So, the next area that I tackled was our mud room. I still had flip flops in there from the summer! I had been meaning to go through all the shoes for months now (ever since Winter started!) and even though Spring is now approaching there were things that needed to be thrown out and some of Luke’s old shoes needed to also go downstairs in boxes so even though I was pretty late with this task it was much needed to get it all organized finally! The coat rack was actually starting to come off the wall because it was cluttered with too many coats. Yes, there’s only 3 of us but with our daily chores with the horses we have “barn coats” and other multiple coats for layering when we’re out and about so they pile up quickly! We would have to pile our hats and gloves on top of the coats and then as soon as we’d go for a coat everything would come tumbling down! Here’s the before and after shots:
Here are the after pics of the Mud Room:
Here’s a sneak peak of my next project to tackle – my desk area! It’s my own little corner of the house that is off limits to everyone else. I know I can put something on my desk and no one will dare touch it. It’s a little nook that I’ve had my eye on since we started building the house and knew it would be a nice little space for me. But it’s gotten out of control and desperately needs some organizing! I need to get a filing cabinet or something to get my desk top cleared! Any ideas for me? I have a few things to hang on the wall too, including my running tags for my first two 5K and 10K races the hubs framed for me for Christmas. Maybe even getting a notice board would help too?! Should I paint the back wall? Leave me your thoughts/comments and I’ll keep you updated!!
