I had the Monday blues this week and decided last minute that I should take Luke and do something out of our “usual routine”. So I packed some lunch for us (everywhere I go I still love using my Easy Lunch Boxes!) and decided to head up to Dayton to the Air Force Museum. It took about 45 minutes to get there from door to door, which thankfully Luke loves car rides as much as I do so 45 minutes of mostly country driving was relaxing and the change of scenery we needed! Of course, both my brothers (one still currently) have been in the Air Force and I’ve always been so proud of them so it is even more special of a place for me to take Luke to visit!
When Jennie mentioned she had never heard of AFM I knew I had to write about it because we honestly had so much fun, I’m already planning our next trip back! They have 4 hangars packed FULL of more airplanes than you’ve ever seen! Luke was amazed at it all and walked around with his mouth on the floor! It was fun to watch him get such a kick out of it all! The best thing is that it’s FREE!
The people were all super nice and I know they do have a Cafe but I didn’t see it since we ate our packed lunch outside. If you’re looking for something a little different to take the kiddos to – I would suggest packing them all up in the car and heading out to Dayton! On the same exit as the museum is a Starbucks, Sonic and Wendy’s to name a few just as an FYI. I hit up the Starbucks before we went and was overwhelmed to walk in seeing a slew of military in uniform and how polite and respectful they are always amazes me. I went straight to the front of the line with a polite smile, nod and bow! If we ever move again, it will be near a military community! ha ha! They must have felt sorry for me carrying this 30 lb kid just trying to get a cup of coffee! 🙂
