Education is a huge part of why I chose to stay home with Luke, I want to be really involved with what he’s learning throughout the day and it’s something I really enjoy doing with him. I love that I can be teaching him ALL day throughout our usual routine and of course learning through play is one of the best ways kids learn! I’m in the Little Miami school district and I’m appalled at the state of our schools actually. I’m thankful that Luke’s only 2 because I have a little time to figure out what I’m going to do! Yikes! (I can absolutely understand why other parents choose to home school!)
What I’ve been starting to do lately is the Phonics song/dance with him and it’s a really fun way to get them ready for reading books and I love they’re learning while they’re having fun. Here’s a great example of a fun phonics song! If you go to YouTube you’ll find all kinds of variations on the phonics songs, color songs, etc. Once they know this song, you can move onto the double syllable song where they learn to pronounce and spell out more difficult words with: th, wh, etc. You can also make/print out your own flash cards to go along with these songs!
