Yes, my little guy turned 3. Still can’t quite believe how big he’s getting and he’s such a fun little boy – always keeping us on our toes! We decided to do something a little different this year and ask close friends and family to celebrate with us at The Little Gym, where he takes classes once a week.
It was a blast and we would absolutely do it again! We had a lot of fun…even the parents! We usually do a big party at home with lots of food, crafts for the kids, etc. Last year I had a reindeer themed party with homemade reindeer cupcakes! I liked that I didn’t have to cook or clean up afterwards at The Little Gym and I liked having “the entertainment” of the party taken care of by having someone else host the party so we could relax and have fun with the kids.
The party was 1.5 hours – 45 minutes in the gym and 45 minutes in the party room. The two girls we had who “hosted” the party were fantastic, can’t say enough good things about them. They were great with the kids and I would love to have them again. They did a lot of fun games with the kids mixed with 10 minutes of free time throughout the 45 minutes in the gym. We had a Cars cake made from Kroger and I did make some home made hot cocoa for the kids as little favors. We chose to do pizza and birthday cake but you don’t have to, you can choose to only do cupcakes or birthday cake and choose what time you’d prefer during the day which makes it easy! For more information on how you can have your next birthday party at The Little Gym, check out their website or give them a call!
The adorable “3” shirt he’s wearing was made for him by Daisy Mae Shirts and I loved it so much this will definitely be a new tradition! She also does great t-shirts for all occasions and has more fabrics to choose from on her facebook page than I’ve seen before! We will be doing a giveaway with her in the New Year so be sure to check back with us for a chance to get your hands on your own t-shirt!
I did want to give everyone a little “thank you” for coming to the party so decided at the last minute (the night before!) to put together little hot cocoa mix for the kids.
Here’s the recipe I used for Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix:
- 3 cups nonfat dry milk powder
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup of powered creamer (the kind you put in your coffee!)
- 1.5 cups cocoa powder
- 1.5 cups of white choc chips
- 1/4 tsp of salt
Mix it all together and it stores for up to 3 months. To make hot cocoa, put 1/3 of cocoa mix in a mug and stir in 1 cup of hot milk. I did add some marshmallows to each bag as well as a candy cane with . Makes an easy but thoughtful gift!
