I have to confess that I’m not always patient with Luke in the kitchen – most things we do usually end up all over the kitchen and I have a hard time “letting go” at times but I’ve gotten better about it and I’ve been able to find things that he can easily help with that aren’t going to make a mess as easily. I was thrilled to let him loose on a gingerbread house in a moment of boredom at home.
The finished product was adorable and I loved seeing how much he enjoyed doing it himself since most things in the kitchen require help from us. We put the icing on and let him do the rest!
The next thing I was able to do with inspiration from Take10WithTricia are these adorable Santa hat brownies! They were super easy and I needed something to take over to my neighbors to say Thank You for wrangling my horses when all three made a run for it in their own version of The Great Escape from their walk outs last week. Of course they broke out the one day I planned not to be home! Have I mentioned how much I love my neighbors?!
The next fun craft I did were these great cookies in a jar that I needed for a gift exchange and I was able to attach a gift card to front of them. I got the recipe via Pinterest and Family Fun. Great for teacher gifts as well! There are a ton of ideas for these cookies in a jar on Pinterest! I did try to put some cute fabric on the top but I found that you couldn’t really see the layers as well and in the end chose a pretty ribbon – sometimes simple is better!
I found this little craft pack at Target for a few dollars and almost forgot about it until I was looking for a craft for Luke over the weekend and I was so happy to see it keep him busy for 30 minutes while the hubs and I cooked dinner and were able to actually finish a conversation! Even with one kiddo it’s impossible to finish a thought…or conversation!
It would be really easy to punch a hole in the top and hang these on the Christmas tree as an ornament! He asked me to help him make one for his friends, Cody and baby Grayson too!
I’ve also made a couple batches of Hot Cocoa to give away as birthday party favors – more on this coming up soon! What are your favorite Christmas crafts or gifts you’ve done this year?
