Ahhh…it feels so good to be home. We had a LONG drive back home on Friday and thankfully it was uneventful! Luke and I had so much fun last week but it’s always good to be back home, mostly because we missed Daddy!
Vacations usually stress me out, I have to admit. There’s the packing, traveling and the worst part for me…sleeping arrangements. I really don’t like sharing a room with Luke. I never sleep well because I’m afraid I will wake him up and Julian and I are almost always squeezed into a full or queen size bed which I never sleep well in because I stretch out like a starfish when I sleep so I need ROOM! The last vacation we took as a family was in a cabin down in TN and I LOVED that Luke had his own room and we had plenty of space to relax in when he went to bed. It ended up being cheaper to rent a 3 bedroom cabin than it was to squeeze us all into a hotel room.
So, on this trip Luke and I shared a room and I thought for a while about the best sleeping arrangements so we would both sleep well. Yes, he could sleep in bed with me but he moved around so much I’d be worried he would fall off the bed. He has outgrown the pack and play and I felt guilty for squeezing him into it during our trip last October. The poor guy had to lay diagonal just to fit himself in it to lay flat! After a bit of looking around online, I came across this blow up toddler bed and decided to give it a try.
It’s called The Shrunks Toddler Bed and it has little bumpers on the side so they can’t roll off. It also fits a crib mattress on it which makes it easy to use your own bedding with it. They also have it in a twin size if you’d rather a larger bed. After using this all week with Luke I really liked it and he was really comfortable sleeping on it, he never complained. I’m happy to report we both slept well all week. It’s also worth noting that it took 2 seconds to fill it up with an electric air pump and it was also really quick and easy to deflate and roll up. There are all kinds of accessories you can get for it, I purchased the simple one that didn’t come with bedding but it did come with the air pump and a little travel bag to store it in. I think I paid about $70 for it, which was worth every penny. I got mine online at Amazon but I’m pretty sure you could also get it at Buy Buy Baby or Toys R Us. My only con to it was that I had heard other people mention their kids pillow fell off the top, which did happen a couple times with Luke but I just made sure it was up against the wall so it wasn’t really that big of an issue for us.
The other memorable part of our trip was our first visit to Cherry Berry Frozen Yogurt Bar! Luke and I loved this place and accidentally ended up going twice in one day! I went and then had to go back and take Luke! They have a wall of all different frozen yogurt flavors to choose from and then another wall of all the mix ins you could imagine!
I’m so sad there is only one in Ohio and it’s up in Powell, OH…I hope one will come to Cincinnati soon! That was definitely a fun experience for us and we’ll look forward to that next time we’re out West! Be sure to check out their website and see if there’s a Cherry Berry near you!
