The first few weeks with a newborn are filled with trial and error to find out what your new baby likes and dislikes. It’s absolutely been easier having lots of tricks I’ve learned with Luke since he wasn’t the easiest baby in the world…and he wasn’t even a “colicky” baby!
Little Miss Emma absolutely knows what she wants, but I really can’t blame her…most of us ladies know what we want! She has her favorite snuggly blanket and wants you to hold her just so. She doesn’t want a pacifier of any sort and screams at you with even more intensity when you try and give it to her. Point taken. She’s also not into the swing so much at the moment, every time I put her in it she cries and won’t settle, hmmm…
She loves the car and likes to be kept moving…just like her big brother. Phew – we’re in the car way too much for her not to like it. She also loves the sound of an “oscillating fan” on my sound machine app way more than anything else. As soon as you put that noise on with in seconds she is quiet and happy. It’s only 2.5 weeks in and Julian is already ready to throw it out the window. Apparently, the noise isn’t as relaxing for him!
She LOVES sleeping in this Fisher Price Rock n’ Play infant sleep that my Mom got for us…everyone who’s tried it has raved about it and I can easily agree, it’s fantastic and is so nice next to the bed for her to sleep in at night. It folds so easily for traveling to the Grandparents house and takes up very little space. You can find them at Target for pretty cheap too!
The other thing we’ve noticed is how much she’s already a Daddy’s girl. It’s pretty cute to see these two together but what’s even better is how much she loves it when he sings to her, she just stares at him and then flashes a smile or two at him. It’s cool…Mom’s just here to feed the girl, Dad gets the first smile. What’s new? Ha!
What have your kids liked or disliked when they were newborns?! Something you couldn’t live without??
