Today, Emma had her very first chiropractic adjustment! I didn’t realize all the benefits that chiropractic care can offer children, and especially newborns. Just think of all the stress on the baby that happens during the birthing process and it isn’t uncommon for babies who are colicky, problems breastfeeding, favoring one side during breastfeeding or sleeping, baby is a poor sleeper or dislikes being held to feel much better after being adjusted. So, my curiosity got the best of me and I had to take advantage of Dr. Kim’s free newborn consultation to her current patients.
Emma did need two adjustments, one for her hip that was off and another for her neck/head that she always favored sleeping with her head tilted to the right when laying down. She did the adjustment with her on me and was so gentle, she never cried or was even aware of what Dr. Kim was doing. I’ve heard a lot of Moms say how much better their baby sleeps, feeds and behaves after a chiropractic check up!
Dr. Kim is so gentle and she is fantastic with kids and babies. Next I will be making an appointment for Luke to get checked out…especially with all the funky sleeping positions that kiddo ends up in!
Who you don’t see in this picture is Luke…Dr. Kim has a basket of toys there for kids to play with and there’s not a lot of places I feel uncomfortable taking both the kids with me. Having the second really hasn’t slowed me down too much, although last night was a doozy. Emma was NOT happy and for the first time in the last 4 weeks I got barely any sleep. The hubs was so sweet to take the morning off work to let me get some sleep, lets face it – it makes BOTH our lives better when Mama gets some sleep!
One thing I’ve learned with having the second is that in moments when I’m dealing with Emma it helps to also have something for Luke in bind. I try and carry a book or pen and paper with me to give him if I need to keep him occupied for a minute or two. Weeks ago I came across these adorable lego candies that I found in a cool little candy store and stashed them away in the diaper bag. After being at the Chiro’s office for a while for me and Emma I then needed to nurse her so I remembered these little treats and boy was he in heaven! He played with them and ate long enough to give me 20 mins to feed Emma. I loved that he played more than he ate so I have plenty left for next time!
And when we got home today I was so excited to see this has arrived for Emma! It’s the Pottery Barn Christmas stocking and with 15% off and free shipping it was $25. Totally worth it to me to have these adorable, great quality stockings they’ll have every year. They are the cutest I’ve seen and some things you get what you pay for. Can’t wait to hang it on the fireplace next to Luke’s this year! What Christmas decorations do you splurge on?!
