One thing I’ve been getting used to now that we have Emma are the meltdowns….from both kids….at the same time, always when we’re in public. I miss being able to pull Luke in bathroom by myself to re-focus him without distractions. This week we walked into Portrait Innovations in Mason to get a 4-generation picture taken while my Grandmother was in town. I thought I would use the opportunity to get a few shots of the kids for Christmas cards as well. As soon as we walked in for our appointment both kids lost it and had a complete meltdown. Luke ended up falling asleep on the way there so I knew it would be FUN waking him up to “smile for the camera!” I honestly wanted to walk out and try again another day but my Grandmother was leaving the next day so it had to be done. I nursed Emma and eventually Luke calmed down too. I thought there would be no way we’d get through this disaster with even one decent picture and was sure Emma would cry her way through all the pictures. However…by some miracle, this is what we ended up with:
Christmas cards here we come! I couldn’t believe Emma managed to scratch her face right before the pictures…of course. I actually had a pretty cute xmas outfit for her too but I just couldn’t face changing her because I knew it would ruin her great mood. And as for the 4th generation picture…
It turned out OK…not my favorite picture of myself but until I lose the rest of this baby weight there’s not many pictures I love BUT it’s important to embrace the camera anyway! Having this special keepsake of all four generations of us in one picture is what matters most.
All in all, it was a success! Have you ever noticed that when you see a Mom of multiples with their kids having a complete meltdown in public that the Mom is cool as a cucumber? Love this, only a Mom can completely tune out the tantrum and not really care their kid(s) are freaking out over wanting that drink/toy/snack/book, etc.
Tell me…do your kids love or hate having their picture taken?
