So we are five months in and having so much fun with this little girl – she is such a blessing to us and has really “completed” our family. I really wasn’t worried about the transition from 1 to 2 kids, it’s been a lot easier the second time around but I’ve had a few things I’ve loved that have really made my life with 2 kids a little easier.
I am always on-the-go and I looked for months and months for a stroller that would be a good fit for us. I really didn’t want a huge double stroller so I opted for this version of the Graco Sit and Stand which has been a life saver. Luke loves it and it has some features that others didn’t including a visor over Luke’s head if needed to shade from the sun or rain. It also has an option for a smaller seat in the back that faces me so Luke could sit in the front and a younger child could be in the back, out of the car seat if you prefer. There are SO many options for this stroller, I love it. My cons: the wheels need to be more “heavy duty” and I wish the handle moved up so Julian doesn’t bang his feet on the bottom of the stroller. Not a great option if you are really tall. The best Pro to this stroller: it fits in the trunk of my car! I mean my Subaru Legacy car, not a big SUV. I do have to take the tray off the front of the stroller but I love that I can have both my kids and everything we need in a more gas efficient car.
This bath seat has been a life saver, Emma really didn’t love the hard infant tub once she was out of the “newborn” phase and my mom got us this one. Julian usually does bath time with the kids and this saves so much time since we can get them both in the bath at the same time. It’s made soft mesh fabric too so it’s a lot more comfortable! For $15.99 at Target it’s totally worth it!
This bouncer has been one of my favorites this time around, I got it almost brand new from a yard sale for $15. It stays in my bathroom upstairs and she happily sits in here while I shower and get ready most mornings. She loves this bouncer and I love that it’s light enough to travel with (or take downstairs!) and folds up easily!
Both my kids have loved white noise, I usually use an app on my phone when we’re out and about. If Emma gets fussy I turn on the white noise and she will go straight to sleep – awesome when you’re on the go but not so great when you really need to use your phone but you’re afraid to wake the baby if you take away the white noise! This little gadget is a portable white noise machine that hooks onto your car seat….genius is an understatement. The volume goes loud enough and you never have to worry about forgetting it, or tying up your phone! I got mine at Buy Buy Baby!
One thing about Emma is that she is side sleeper all the way. She won’t sleep any other way in her bed, she rolls to the side and drifts off to sleep usually burying her face in the crib bumper. It totally freaks me out and I thought about just taking the bumper out but then worried about her getting her arms or legs caught in between the crib slats. So I found this breathable crib bumper which has been awesome. I switched this one out for her other crib bumper and I managed to find a cuter pattern at Target. It said online they didn’t have this pattern at my local Target – but they did and had a ton of other adorable patterns so you should be able to find something that matches your baby’s room decor!
When Luke was younger my techie husband set up a spare web cam that we used as a “video monitor” it was great to keep an eye on him and it just got me hooked and it gave us great peace of mind. I decided to invest the crazy money to get a video monitor when I was pregnant with Emma and again, it was something I spent months comparing and looking at all the different monitors. I ended up getting this one from The First Years and love it. It had mostly good reviews, battery life isn’t great if you have the monitor on all the time and I don’t think it goes the entire 650 ft range as promised but the color screen is super big and we love the 2 way talk ability and the night light.
