We went pumpkin crazy this past weekend celebrating our Lil’ Pumpkin Emma turning one! I have been pinning and planning her party since the Spring and enjoyed every minute of it. (A big shout out and MANY thanks to Jen G for the incredible pictures of Emma!)
First of all was her bday invitation, I fell in love with the orange and pink themed pumpkin birthday that I found on Pinterest and had Sweet Gum Drop Creations on Etsy make her invitation. She has adorable invitations and I love the lil’ turkey invitation which would be perfect for a birthday close to Thanksgiving! Check out her etsy store, it’s adorable and she was a gem to work with!
For the decorations at the party, I used a super cute pink and orange printable set from Dream Like Magic’s etsy store. She has a ton of party printables that make it so easy to decorate your party! If you are having a Halloween party be sure to check her stuff out – it is unique and not so expensive as some of the other stores on etsy that I’ve seen. Anything from her store is a great quality at an unbeatable value! She was awesome to work so I highly recommend her! Here are some of the pictures of what was included in her party printables:
Onto the GAMES! A lot of friends have older kids that I knew were coming so I wanted to make sure they were kept busy and had fun during the party! I was so surprised that Target actually had a HUGE section of great games that were under $10! I picked up a few that I knew we would re-use, especially with family coming into town next week! The printable scavenger hunt cards were a surprise hit with the kids, they were perfect for the younger kids to read and the older kids loved it too! I hid candy prizes in balloons that the kids had to hunt for once they completed the scavenger hunt for an easy prize! We had pumpkin ball toss, bobbing for apples, pin the nose on the pumpkin ($5 at Target!), potato sack racing and I also had little pumpkins for the kids to paint!
Now…onto the FOOD! There are some great recipes for pumpkin-themed dishes on Pinterest! I picked a few easy ones and they were delicious! I had a friend of mine make Emma’s cake – she did a fabulous job! If you are local and looking for a cake baker be sure to email me or leave a comment and I will hook you up with her! She did the cake in apple spice and vanilla and we took the small pumpkin off the top for Emma’s smash cake! She LOVED it, my favorite was the apple spice! I made the cupcakes and the icing was a Wilton favorite and I just added a little candy pumpkin for the topping.
One of my favorite things about the party were these adorable pumpkin cookies that I got from a local baker called Delicious Designs Cookies. I met her this past week and Arin is SO sweet, she is so good at cookies for ANY occasion and I felt blessed to have found her! There’s no doubt she will be my go-to girl for cookies for all our special occasions! She can do custom cookies, check out her facebook page to get in touch with her! She is currently offering a gift box filled with: 1 mini loaf of pumpkin bread, 1 pumpkin spice cookie with icing, 1 pumpkin-shaped cookie and 1 chocolate pumpkin cake pop. Wrapped and ready in a box with a bow for ONLY $10. HELLO! I am thinking Teacher’s gifts for either Halloween or Thanksgiving! You could take one of these custom boxes as a gift for your Thanksgiving host!! She is taking orders from now until Thanksgiving so be sure to check her out! She did a great job with these cookies, all I did was add the thank you tag! I also LOVED that she had the pure and simple (NO junk!) ingredients on the back so you know what you’re getting! (Thanks again Arin!)
The other thing I did for Emma was pick out a really cute “pumpkin” themed book that would be easy for everyone to sign as a special keepsake for her. I have matching “birthday memory books” for both the kids which I write a yearly journal entry in but I wanted something a little different this time that we can pull out and read every year with everyone’s birthday wishes on it! I also love pulling out newborn pictures and I had an announcement handy that brought back many happy memories!
