I am always looking for new ways to use frozen blueberries. Our local Whole Foods had a great sale last year on fresh blueberries so you can easily stock up and freeze them for later use. I am always looking for ways to use frozen blueberries in things other than muffins, breads, and pancakes. For this recipe I used a bag of organic 365 frozen blueberries, I would recommend rinsing the blueberries to get rid of some of the excess blueberry juice.
The whole wheat pastry flour turned out so tasty, I would absolutely use that again. It was a great flavor along with the unsalted 365 Everyday Value Whole Foods Organic Butter. It’s nice to have a healthier version of your every day pie crust that tastes just as good. For the filling I used the recipe from Spoon Fork Bacon. For the Whole Wheat pie crust I used this recipe from the Whole Foods Website.
This recipe takes a little more time since you are cutting out circles for each pie which makes it great for kids as well as finger desserts for a party! I love being able to get such a fresh flavor from these organic blueberries in the middle of Winter! Be sure to check out the other weekly deals going on this week at Whole Foods, Mason.
