Last week at The Little Gym we played some fun new games, one that Emma really had fun with was the hoola-hoop! So if you don’t have a hoola hoop, head down to your nearest dollar store and buy a couple for a fun game with your toddler.
It’s basically a version of “Simon Says” without the Simon part. Ask them if they can put the hoop over their head, ask them to put it on the ground and stand INSIDE the cirle, OUTSIDE the circle and then see if they can roll the hoop back and forth to you.
Then get some chalk and draw circles in a row on the ground and try to get them to hop (some may need help) from one circle to the next and count 1-2-3 and so forth through all the circles.
This not only helps them learn to count but helps with motor skill development and learning to follow directions. The possibilities are endless with a simple hoola hoop! Behind every Little Gym class are lessons built on building your children’s age appropriate skills so they can have fun and learn at the same time. Thanks Little Gym!
