We’ve all had our fair share of “bad haircuts” in our lifetime, without a doubt I’ve had more than a few actually. Before kids you don’t think twice about standing in front of your mirror for as long as it took to achieve a good hair day. After the birth of your first child you actually kind of forget you even have hair because it’s always under a hat or pulled up in the crazy “mom hair bun”. It’s gets a little better as your kids get older since you may start to get more sleep. Although I do actually get to wash my hair now, I still don’t have a lot of time for myself because my toddler is busy tearing apart my bedroom while I attempt to dust off my hair dryer and remember what it feels like to not have little people pulling at my ankles and re-organizing my entire closet in a matter of minutes.
If you’re looking for a new hairdresser (that won’t break the bank) not only do I have a good recommendation if you’re local but I have a few tips for you if you’re looking for a good haircut.
My hairdresser, Polly, has been doing my hair for years. When I tell her I need longer layers or a cut that will grow out easy she listens. That’s my first piece of advice – go to someone who actually listens to what you are asking for. Before Polly even picks up the scissors she asks me how I liked the last cut and if we need to change anything.
My next piece of advice is to use someone who really knows your hair type. You should absolutely call the salon and ask the receptionist “Who would you recommend for short hair styles or thick, course hair?” One of the biggest reasons I have gone to Polly for so long is because she is so familiar with my crazy,
frizzy naturally curly hair and she knows exactly how to cut it and style it so I have less work to do at home. I literally sit down in her chair and say “please fix me!”. When I went in recently I told Polly I needed to change things up with some color and we decided on putting some lighter color on the bottom a.k.a. “ombre” (so I don’t have to worry about roots!) which turned out beautifully with some subtle copper highlights throughout.
To say my hair needed a lift was an understatement. I always recommend going with a hairdresser who someone has recommended, if you see their hair and think it looks nice the haircut speaks for itself. So today I’m going to give you a little inside tour of my salon, B’Lewie Salon and Day Spa located in Lebanon, Ohio.
