I always have fun networking in the blogging community and I have met some pretty amazing people and created some very special friendships. One example of this was meeting Marie who blogs over at Mom Gets Real, a fun and very real blog about all aspects of Motherhood. I met Marie years ago at my very first blogging conference and we’ve kept in touch ever since.
Marie has tagged me in a fun “get to know me” post so I will answer a few questions that some of you may or may not know about me! Be sure to check out Marie’s post as well!
1. Are you named after someone?
Only my middle name, Ann, is my Aunt Kathy’s middle name(on my dad’s side). We have always had a very special bond. She has taught me how important it is to be an Aunt and I seriously love my nieces and nephews thanks to the great role model she has been to me.
2. When was the last time you cried?
Today at the park, watching Emma play with one of her friends. They were sharing goldfish and they had a “moment” that was just so darn sweet it made me tear up. Sappy, I know. In a world where there are so many unkind people, my hope for my kids is that they are always kind. Seeing Kindness just gets me every time. (Yes, I am a sap.)
3. Do you have kiddos?
Yes, one 5 year old little boy named Luke and one 18 month old little girl named Emma. It took us a year to conceive Luke and almost 3 years to conceive Emma. The month the doctors told us we had very slim chances of getting pregnant the 2nd time around without IVF we got a big fat positive test. I have learned a lot about trusting God’s plan along that journey. His timing is always perfect. Now we have two fun loving kids that keep us on our toes and we try to find the joy in each moment of chaos.
4. If you were another person, would you be a friend to yourself?
This is an interesting question, I’ve thought a lot about this recently. Yes, I think I would because I agonize over what I can do for other people, especially my friends. I’m very caring and would do anything for anyone but above all I’m authentic and not fake. What you see is what you get.
5. Do you have a guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is coffee. It keeps me going when I just need a little pick me up to get through my day. I’m not picky, any sort of coffee works for me. Dunkin’, Starbucks and my own home brew hit the spot.
6. Do you like your handwriting?
It’s okay. Could be worse but it’s not all that exciting. It’s legible at least.
7. What’s your favorite cereal?
I love Cinnamon Chex, that’s a big hit for all of us in my house.
8. What’s the first thing you notice about people.
If they like to talk a lot about themselves. It says a lot about their character along with how they talk about other people. I try not to surround myself with people who are selfish.
9. What is your eye color?
Green. I’ve recently learned why you should never wear black eye liner and that dark purple really brings out green eyes. (Black tends to accentuate the pupil, which is also black rather than using other colors to bring out your eye color….this totally works!)
10. Scary movies or happy endings?
Well you know by now that I am a total sap. So would it be any surprise to hear that of course I prefer happy endings?!
11. Favorite TV Show?
I will always love Friends and Sex and The City. The end.
12. Winter or Summer?
Summer, without a doubt.
13. Hugs or kisses?
Kisses. (and hugs!)
14. What’s the furthest you’ve been from home?
Europe has been the farthest I’ve been from home, the good ole’ USA.
15. Do you have any special talents?
I love working with my horses, although these days my time with them is limited since I am busy chasing after my kiddos.
16. Where were you born?
Believe it or not, right here at Bethesda North in Cincinnati, Ohio.
17. What are your hobbies?
I love my horses, I also really love gardening.
18. Do you have any pets?
Yes, 3 horses, 2 dogs, 2 barn cats. (and a partridge in a pear tree!)
19. Favorite movie?
I have many favorites, but one that comes to mind is Hope Floats. I love how strong she becomes, even in her darkest despair and how important it is to stay hopeful for the future. She was a strong Mama who stood up for herself. Some times things have to fall apart to make an even better dreams come true.
20. What color car do you have?
White. Understated but a little cool.
Games are more fun when more than one person is playing so I am tagging some other bloggers I know!
