Want to make a wreath in memory of our United States Armed Forces? Check this one out, and let me know what you think?
What do you need:
10″ Grapevine Wreath
Red Silk Flowers (I use 3 Red Hydrangeas)
White Silk Flowers (I used daisies)
Blue Silk Flowers (I used a Pulmonaria Blue Silk Flower, but any Blue Flower would work)
(1) Mini American Flag on a Stick
Something Patriotic to Place on/in the Wreath (I used a Patriotic Sock Monkey that I found at Hobby Lobby)
Paddle Wire to attach the Patriotic Item to the Wreath
Take the larger flowers (the Red Hydrangeas) and weave them into the Grapevine Wreath. You’ll take the stem and weave it in and out of the vines on the wreath. The more weaving you do, the more secure your flowers will be. You’ll want them spaced out a little to leave room for the other flowers. Again, I just used (3) because these flowers are pretty big.
Take the white flowers (the daisies) and fill in the rest of the Grapevine Wreath, by weaving into the vines on the wreath again. I only placed flowers on 3/4 of the wreath, and I left 1/4 of the wreath empty for my sock monkey.
Now, we need to add the blue flowers.
Attach the sock monkey to the wreath using a little paddle wiring so it doesn’t fall off. I wrapped the wiring around his arms and legs to the wreath and he’s on there pretty good. I placed my Flag in front of the monkey by weaving the stick in and out of the Grapevine Wreath, but you could also use the wiring to make it more secure.
Pretty easy, right? Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this one and any other great ideas you have to honor our active Military and Veterans! Happy Memorial Day!!
