The bond between my children and their grandparents is inseparable, to say the least. To say they LOVE their Grandparents is an understatement, they LIVE for their Grandparents. Next to Mom and Dad, the kids Grandparents are their absolute favorite people in the world. They ask for them every day, literally.
While we are always showing our ‘thanks’ and appreciation to our Grandparents for all they do, I still jump at the opportunity to do something a little extra special on the annual Grandparents Day, Sunday September 7th.
Pinterest has so many adorable ideas and crafts that you can mail if you don’t live close by. We always love sharing a new “Grandparent” themed book since our family are all book lovers. This one is pretty cute and I know my parents will love looking through the fun pictures of how times have changed over the years.
Grandma, Aren’t You Glad the World’s Finally in Color Today! is a story in rhyme that takes readers on a “then and now” journey through time. Narrated by a grandmother thumbing through an old photo album, the story compares her own mother’s life and times to those of her grandchildren today. Side by side vintage and full color photos contrast fashion, schools, transportation, entertainment, technology, culture and the arts from the Great Depression and World War II years to those of today. Grandchildren glimpse what life was like in their great-grandmother’s time — “Back in the day, when Brownies were cameras and photos were grey” – and rich color photos give grandparents a peek into their grandchildren’s colorful world!
What I love about this book is how it encourages the generations to come together and reminisce, to tell stories of their time and pass beautiful memories onto their Grandchildren. You can pick up your copy online today and wish the Grandparents in your children’s lives a very happy day!
